JACKSON, Tenn. – The Indians manufactured 9 runs on 10 hits in a 9-2 Game 1 win at Jackson State (Tenn.) Community College on Friday.
Hannah Williams (Philadelphia) went 2-for-4 with a 2 runs scored and of a pair of runs driven in on a triple to right to highlight a four-run fourth inning for the Indians (4-1).
Cori Childs (New Site) continued to swing a hot bat in the win after going 2-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Meg Sullivan (Springville, Ala.) also added 2 hits with one going for a double to score a pair of runs. Samantha Conley (Meadville, La.) and McKenzie Piper (Pell City, Ala.) also had a double in the victory.
Bailie Springfield (Mantee) improved to 3-0 on the season after giving up 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 1 and only issuing 1 walk in 6 innings of work. Makenzie Toombs (Ackerman) closed the door on the Generals by no hits and striking out 1 batter in the bottom of the seventh.
