ELLISVILLE, MS – The No. 6 Indians fell 6-1 to No. 1 Jones County Junior College in the opening round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament on Wednesday.

Jones County (48-2) took a 1-0 lead when Cori McCrary scored on a one-out double by Autumn Frost in the bottom of the third before pulling ahead on a two-out, bases loaded error that allowed the Bobcats to push across three more runs before the Indians (39-13) could get out of the inning.
ICC got a run back in the top of the third when Alex Brown (Pontotoc) was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a single by Meg Sullivan (Springville, AL) before scoring on a sacrifice fly to deep center by Kaitlyn Rhodes (Alexandria, AL).

The Bobcats answered with a RBI double by Taylor Murray in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-1 lead.

The Indians only managed to put a pair of runners on over the next three innings, a walk to Cori Childs (New Site) to start the fourth and a single to start the fifth by Brown, but both were left in scoring position each inning.

Brown, Sullivan, and McKenzie Piper (Pell City, AL) each had a single in the game to go along a double by Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston).

The Indians will face LSU-Eunice (46-11) in the first elimination game of the tournament at 3:00 p.m. Thursday. The Bengals committed nine errors and dropped an 8-1 decision to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (40-12) in the first game of the tournament.

The winner of the 3:00 p.m. game will face the loser between Jones County and Gulf Coast in the second elimination game of the tournament at 5:00 p.m.
