No. 6 Indians collar Bulldogs, 15-2, in 5 innings

GOODMAN, MS – The No. 6 Indians took care of business with a 15-2 win in 5 innings over the Holmes Community College Bulldogs in the nightcap on Wednesday.
ICC (34-10-1, 21-5 MACJC) hung seven runs on the board in the top of the first inning.
Alex Brown (Pontotoc) singled and stole second before scoring on a single by Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston). Meg Sullivan (Springville, AL) drew a five-pitch walk and scored on a bases-loaded walk issues to Kaitlyn Rhodes (Alexandria, AL). Hollenhead scored on a single by Maura Jane Autry (Holly Springs) before McKenzie Piper (Pell City, AL) singled and scored on a wild pitch. Autry scored on a single by Cori Childs (New Site), who stole second, before scoring a sacrifice fly from Alex Brown that was caught against the fence in right field.
Holmes (12-28, 8-18 MACJC) took advantage of an error to push across an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 7-1 game in favor of the Indians.
Piper doubled and scored on a double off the top of the fence by Rhodes, who scored on a sac fly by Sullivan to make it 9-1 in the top of the second inning.
The Indians added five runs in the top of the third to take a 14-1 lead. Sullivan smashed a double to the gap to score Haley Reid (Batesville) and Brown. Hollenhead singled to score Sullivan before the Bulldogs could collect back-to-back outs on the warning track in center field. Autry reached on an error that scored Hollenhead from second and later scored when Childs reached on a fielder's choice.
Brown doubled for the second time to start the fourth inning. She was replaced on the bases by Madison Carnes (Ecru), who scored on a double by Hollenhead to give the Indians a 15-1 lead heading to the bottom of the fifth.
Holmes picked up a run the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly to right before Caroline Dickins (Batesville) snagged a line drive from her shortstop position to end the game.
Carleigh Mills (Corinth) picked up her 16th win of the season after giving up one unearned run and scattering three hits in three innings of work.
Brown and Hollenhead each had three hits with Piper, Autry, and Reid each adding a pair of hits to the Indians' 15-hit total.
