SENATOBIA, MS – The No. 14 Indians scored five runs in the top of the seventh and held off a late rally by the Rangers to pick up a 9-6 win in Game 2 to complete the sweep of Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday.

Trailing 4-3, Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston) singled and stole a pair of bases before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Kaitlyn Rhodes (Alexandria, AL) to tie the game in the top of the sixth.

Caroline Dickins (Batesville) reached on a double and was replaced on the bases by Haley Reid (Batesville). After an intentional walk to Alex Brown (Pontotoc), Meg Sullivan (Springville) drew a walk to load the bases with two outs in the top of the seventh.

Hollenhead blasted a single up the middle to score Reid and Brown to take a 6-4 lead. Sullivan avoided getting caught in a rundown to steal home to take a 7-4 advantage while Hollenhead stole third on the play. Hollenhead scored on a single by McKenzie Piper (Pell City, AL), who scored on a double by Rhodes to give the Indians a 9-4 lead.

The Rangers scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning and loaded the bases before Carleigh Mills (Corinth) got a pop-out in foul territory to Hollenhead to secure the victory.

Mills gave up one earned run on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven in seven innings of work.
