No. 14 Indians survive Game 2 with Delta, 7-4

No. 14 Indians survive Game 2 with Delta, 7-4

MOORHEAD, MS – The No. 14 Indians survived an impressive effort from Mississippi Delta Community College to pick up a 7-4 win in Game 2 to complete the sweep of the Trojans on Tuesday.

Tied 4-4, Regan Hubbard (Calhoun City) got the Indians started in the top of the seventh with a single down the third baseline. She was replaced on the bases by Kelcie Yates (Yazoo City), who scored when Cori Childs (New Site) reached on an error to make it 5-4 in favor of the Indians.

Meg Sullivan (Springville, AL) singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alex Brown (Pontotoc) before Childs scored on a two-out single by Maura Jane Autry (Holly Springs) to give the Indians a 7-4 lead.

Sullivan went two for two and two runs scored.

Delta reached on a two-out single before Carleigh Mills (Corinth) struck out the final batter of the game to secure the victory.

Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston) went two for four with a double and four RBI.

Morgan Barrett (Smithville) allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out two in the no decision. Mills gave up one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts in three innings of work to get the win.
