Four Indians earn postseason softball honors

FULTON, MS – The ICC softball team had four players earn postseason honors after another record-breaking season for the Indians.
Three freshmen earned a spot the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 23 Softball Team with three Indians being selected to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State team as announced by the league on Thursday.
Third baseman Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston), second baseman and catcher Alex Brown (Pontotoc) and right-handed pitcher Carleigh Mills (Corinth) all received All-Region honors. Sophomore shortstop Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus) joined Hollenhead and Brown on the MACJC All-State team.
Hollenhead batted a team-best .475 on the season while driving in a team-high 57 RBI and leading the team with 77 hits, 17 doubles and seven home runs. Selected as the MACJC Player of the Week for her performances against Holmes and Co-Lin, she finished the season with a .710 slugging percentage and was second on the team with her .483 on-base percentage while only striking out three times in 162 at-bats. Hollenhead had a .941 fielding percentage on 188 total chances.
Brown finished the season with a .438 batting average, driving in 45 RBI on 16 doubles, six home runs and two triples. Selected as MACJC Player of the Week for her performances against Coahoma and East Central, she finished second in the country after being hit by 21 pitches. Brown closed out her first season in Fulton with a team-leading .734 slugging percentage and team-best .545 on-base percentage while only striking out four times in 128 at-bats. Brown had a .985 fielding percentage with only three errors in 196 chances.
Mills posted a 15-4 record and recorded 4 saves with a 1.74 ERA in 125.0 innings pitched on the season. Selected as MACJC Pitcher of the Week for her performances against Meridian and Southwest Mississippi, she led the team with 94 strikeouts and had a .957 fielding percentage.
Bradley batted .455 on the season, driving in 50 runs on nine doubles, a team-high four triples and five home runs. The Blue Mountain College signee finished the season with a .662 slugging-percentage and a .491 on-base percentage while striking out six times in 154 at-bats. Bradley had a .898 fielding percentage in 147 chances. For her career, Bradley batted .455 with 63 RBI on 10 doubles, six home runs and four triple while stealing 23 bases on 27 attempts and only striking out six times in 213 at-bats in 70 games played after missing most of her freshman season with an injury.
ICC finished 39-10, setting a new record for most wins in a single season, and advanced to the MACJC State Tournament. The Indians earned the program's highest-ever ranking at No. 7 before finishing the season as the No. 10 team in the country.
