FULTON, MS - The No. 7 Indians picked up a 2-0 win over Southwest Mississippi Community College in the first game of the MACJC Best of Three Series thanks to a four-hit complete game shutout from Kaitlin McDuffy (Iuka) on Saturday.

McDuffy and Southwest's Macy Fulton kept a clean sheet through five innings of play before the Indians (38-7) found a way to push across a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Alex Brown (Pontotoc) reached on an one-out single and advanced to third when Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus) took second on an error in right field before scoring on a ground out by Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston).

Hollenhead finished the game 2-for-3 with a RBI.

The Indians picked up an insurance run when Addie Thompson (Hamilton) reached on a two-out error by the Lady Bears (23-20) allowing Bradley to jog home to take the two-run lead heading into the final frame.

McDuffy closed the door with a three up, three down inning in the top of the seventh.

The sophomore southpaw scattered four hits and struck out six while issuing no walks in the complete game shutout.

Fulton kept the Indians' bats silent on the afternoon only allowing five hits in the victory.

Lane Kennedy (Smithville), Bre Harford (Southaven), and Brown each added a single to Hollenhead's two-hit performance.

The Indians picked up their 38th win of the season to set a new record for most wins in a season and to take a 1-0 lead in the Best of the Series.

Game 2 of the series will start at 1:00 p.m. Sunday with Game 3 scheduled to follow - if needed. Both games will be available at LetsGoICCTV.com/Red.
