Softball moves up to No. 7 in NJCAA poll

FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College softball program moved up five spots to No. 7 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Softball poll released Wednesday.

The Indians (37-8, 22-6 MACJC) wrapped up regular season play with an exciting sweep of Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Saturday and finished third in the conference to earn hosting rights for the first round of MACJC playoffs.

The No. 7 ranking is the highest-ever for the Indians.

Three MACJC programs make up this week's NJCAA Top 10 with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (41-3, 25-3 MACJC) holding strong at the No. 3 spot, and Jones County Junior College (37-6, 26-2 MACJC) moving up to No. 5 while Region 23 foe LSU-Eunice (47-3) continues to hold the top spot in the country.

The Indians will begin MACJC Playoffs Saturday, April 23 against Southwest Mississippi Community College with Game 1 of the best of three series scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Fulton. Game 2 of the series is set for Sunday, April 24 at 1:00 pm with game 3 to follow if necessary. Watch the all the playoff games live on LetsGoICCTV.com.
