FULTON, MS – Freshman outfielder Bre Harford (Southaven) came up with a clutch hit late in the game to give No. 9 Itawamba Community College a 4-3 game one victory over East Mississippi Community College Tuesday.

Harford, who went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, stepped into the box in the bottom half of the sixth with one on and one out and the game tied at 3-3. The go ahead run was in scoring position as Addie Thompson (Hamilton) led off the frame with a double and Harford wasted little time on plating the run by ripping a single to left.

Sheneria Tyes (Baldwyn), who was pinch running for Thompson, scored easily on the play to give the Indians (33-6, 18-4 MACJC) a 4-3 lead.

Carleigh Mills (Corinth) took over in the circle in the seventh and picked up her third save of the season as she faced only three Lady Lion batters to give the Indians the one run win.

The No. 9 Indians led 3-0 early in the contest due to RBI singles by Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston) and Harford and a triple by Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus), all three of which got their hits with two outs.

East Mississippi tied the game with a three-run top of the sixth.

Katlin McDuffy (Iuka) picked up the win to improve to 13-2 this season.
