In Friday's opening game, Alex Brown (Pontotoc), Bree Thompson (Water Valley), and Maura Jane Autry (Holly Springs) each went two-for-three at the plate to help the Indians pick up a 4-1 win over the Wildcats.

ICC jumped out to a quick 3-0 after scoring runs in the bottom of the first, second, and third innings. Brown drove in Lane Kennedy (Smithville), who singled to start the game, on a double in the first. Mary Kansas Sullivan (Houston) reached on a two-out single and was replaced by courtesy runner Taylor Thornton, who scored when Brown was hit by a pitch with bases loaded.

Brown leads the NJCAA hit-by-pitch category after being plunked for the 17th time on the season.

Addie Thompson (Hamilton) walked and scored on an error by the Wildcats to grab a 3-0 lead heading to the fourth inning.

The Wildcats scored on a throwing error by the Indians in the fifth, but ICC answered in the bottom half of the inning when Thompson reached on a two-single and scored on a throwing error.

Carleigh Mills (Corinth) entered in the seventh to douse the hopes of a rally by the Wildcats by striking out one before giving up one hit to pick up her second save of the season.

Kaitlin McDuffy (Iuka) gave up one run, unearned, on eight hits and one walk while striking out one in six innings of work to improve to 10-1 on the season.
