FULTON, MS – Sophomore Cara Hopper signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her softball career with Blue Mountain College next season.

"We are excited for Cara to move on to Blue Mountain," said ICC Coach Andy Kirk. "She will be a contributor as a pitcher or outfielder and they are getting a really good player and student."

The Caledonia native split time between snagging fly balls in the outfield and striking out batter from the circle where she became the programs' all-time saves leader. At the plate, Hopper hit .282 with 14 RBI in 37 games and finished 4-4 with three saves, 46 strikeouts and a 1.14 ERA in the circle to earn her Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) All-North Division honorable mention honors.

"It feels great to be continuing my career and education," said Hopper. "I'm thankful for my teammates, coaches and everybody who helped me get here."

As a freshman, she earn MACJC All-North Division second team honors after going 5-2 and picking up 6 saves while 45 strikeouts and a 1.14 ERA. Hopper, hit .367 with 35 RBI and four home runs in her first year in red and blue.

"I had a great time at ICC," said Hopper. "I've met a lot of great people and had a great two years."

Hopper helped the Lady Indians extended their MACJC North Division championship streak to four-straight years after earning a split of the division crown and was part of the sophomore class that won 69 games over two years.

"We are really excited to get Cara," said Blue Mountain Coach Kevin Barefield, "She played really well for ICC this season and she will be a real asset to our program."

Blue Mountain is a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) school that competes in the Southern States Athletic Conference. Last season, the Lady Toppers finished 5-27 and 3-23 in conference play.
