FULTON, MS – Mother Nature finally allowed the Itawamba Community College softball team to host Jackson State Community College Wednesday for a doubleheader originally scheduled for February 17.

The Lady Indians (26-11, 16-5 MACJC North) scored early and often to power their way to the game one win of the non-division twin bill, 9-2.

Freshman Courtney Roberts (Hatley), who was coming off a five RBI performance in Scooba, continued to swing a hot bat going 3-for-4 and picking up five RBI for the second consecutive game. Haley Moore (Booneville) and Roberts led the Lady Indians to a five run second and Laken Shankle (Bruce) and Cara Hopper (Caledonia) led the charge in the fourth to add three runs to the lead.

Jackson State plated two run in the fifth to narrowly avoid the run-rule, but Hopper shut them down in the final two innings striking out four of the eight batters she faced.

Freshman Cassidy Hardy (Gordo, AL) picked up the win going five innings and allowing five hits, one earned run to improve to 6-3.
