FULTON, MS – After dropping game one the Itawamba Community College softball team fought the division leading Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers in the final game of the doubleheader.

Like game one, the Lady Indians (22-10, 14-5 MACJC North) saw an error hand the Lady Rangers an early lead that proved to be the difference as Northwest picked up the 3-2 win and the sweep.

The Lady Rangers (22-6, 15-3 MACJC North) took the lead in the opening frame one a double steal, and in the second inning they added two runs on a two out error and triple.

Trailing 3-0, the Lady Indians answered in the bottom of the second with Maddy Lukens (Saltillo) driving in Courtney Roberts (Hatley) and Cara Hopper (Caledonia) plated Roberts in the fourth to cut the lead to one.

The Lady Indians loaded the bases in the seventh inning with two outs, but the Lady Rangers were able to get out of the jam and pick up the victory.

Next up for the Lady Indians is Calhoun Community College (AL) on Sunday, but due to weather moving through the area the status of the game is uncertain according to Coach Andy Kirk.
