SCOOBA, MS – The Itawamba Community College softball squad exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth to pick up an extra inning win over East Mississippi Community College, 9-4 Tuesday.

The Lady Indians (24-11, 15-5 MACJC North) trailed early but plated two runs in the fifth to tie the contest.

Neither team was able to pick up the winning run, sending the game into extra innings. However, the Lady Indians did not have any trouble pushing runs across in the top of the eighth.

The Lady Indians plated seven runs with seven different players picking up RBIs. Arriann Henry (Ecru) went 2-for-3 on the day with two RBIs and a double while Laken Shankle (Bruce) and Haley Moore (Booneville) had almost identical days at the plate going 2-for-5 with one RBI a piece.

Courtney Roberts (Hatley) when 2-for-4 with an RBI and Kaitlin Bradley (New Hope) picked up a RBI single in her only at bat of the game. Autumn Bonner (Fayette, AL) and Cara Hopper (Caledonia) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Indians driving in one run each.

The Lady Lions plated two runs in the bottom of the inning but the Lady Indians lead was too much to over come.

The game one win keeps the Lady Indians in the hunt for their fourth consecutive MACJC North Division title.
