POPLARVILLE, MS – A three-run rally in the seventh inning gave the Itawamba Community College softball team a win over Faulkner State Community College in game two of the Pearl River Community College Tournament Saturday.

The Lady Indians (6-2) took the final lead in the back-and-forth affair in the final frame with their three run rally to break the tie and pick up the 6-3 victory.

In an evenly matched contest, the Lady Indians took a 3-1 lead in the fourth, but Faulkner State was able to knot it up in the sixth.

The Lady Indians exploded for three runs in the top of the seventh with Laken Shankle (Bruce), Arriann Henry (Ecru) and Cara Hopper (Caledonia) all driving in runs.

Hopper had a big day at the plate going 2-for-3, 2 RBI and a double. Henry added a double and two RBIs of her own in her 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Courtney Roberts (Hatley), who went 2-for-3, reached base three times with two hits and walk to help produce runs in the victory.

It was a big day in the circle for Hopper as well, who came in in relief and threw two and third allowing only one hit to pick up her first win of the season.

The Lady Indians will close the tournament with a battle with host Pearl River.
