FULTON, MS – The honors keep rolling in this week for freshman outfielder Courtney Roberts.

After being named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Player of the Week, Roberts (Hatley) has been selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Player of the Week when the league announced their weekly honors on Thursday.

Roberts went 11-for-18 with 14 RBI, four runs, three triples, two doubles, one homerun and stole a pair of bases in five games to help lead the Lady Indians to victories over East Mississippi Community College and Jackson State Community College (TN).

In game one against East Mississippi, Roberts went 2-for-4 driving in one run and stealing one base, before erupting in game two by going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two triples, and one homerun to propelled the Lady Indians to the sweep over the Lady Lions.

Less than 24 hours after her five-RBI performance in Scooba, Roberts knocked in five more runs in game one against Jackson State (TN) with another 3-for-4 outing highlighted by a two run scoring double in the fourth. In game two, Roberts ripped her third triple of the week, driving in one run while going 2-for-4 at the plate.

On Thursday, ICC wrapped up the week with a makeup game against East Mississippi. The Lady Lions held Roberts to only one hit in the contest, but that was a run scoring double to help the Lady Indians complete the 8-0 run-rule victory. Roberts also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the game.

She is the fourth student-athlete to earn a combined six NJCAA Player of the Week honors this season.

Roberts and the Lady Indians will host No. 10 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (36-10) in a best-of-three series in the opening round of the MACJC playoffs.
