MOORHEAD, MS – After another rain soaked week, the Itawamba Community College softball program took the field for the first time in nine days on Monday when they hit the road for an MACJC North Division battle with the Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans.

The break didn't seem to effect the Lady Indians (19-8, 11-3 MACJC North) as they rolled to a 14-2 game one victory in five innings.

The Lady Indians' bats were red hot early in the contest as they score nine runs in the first two innings to take a commanding lead.

Freshman Courtney Roberts (Hatley) drove in three runs on two triples in her first two plate appearances. Sophomores Haley Moore (Booneville) and Arriann Henry (Ecru) added extra base hits and accounted for five runs in the first two frames.

Cara Hopper (Caledonia), who finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs) first two at bats were a mirror image she ripped run scoring singles to left in both plate appearances.

The Lady Indians gave sophomore starting pitcher Hannah Johnson (Branson, MO) plenty of run support in early innings, but the Lady Trojans battled back with two runs of their own in the third.

In the fifth inning, the Lady Indians put the game out of reach as they plated five runs highlighted by run scoring hits from Autumn Bonner (Fayette, AL) and Hopper and a two run, two out single by Katelynn Downey (Liberty, MO).

The run-rule victory gave Johnson the win and the 28th of her career to become the program's All-Time Career Wins Leader.
