Hopper becomes ICC Softball's all-time saves leader

FULTON, MS – Sophomore Cara Hopper (Caledonia) pitched her way into the Itawamba Community College record books recently as she became the softball program's all-time saves leader.

The Caledonia native, picked up her eighth career save on a rainy Saturday against East Mississippi Community College to pass Dani Taylor (New Albany), who set the record in 2013, for the program's top mark.

In her freshman season, Hopper picked up six saves and finished with a 4-2 overall record and a 1.50 ERA while striking out 45.

During her sophomore campaign, Hopper is 2-4 overall with a 1.37 ERA and has picked up two saves that tied and broke the previous record.

The record tieing save came on March 18 against Calhoun Community College where she threw two innings allowing one run on three hits as the Lady Indians picked up a 2-1 win. She then broke the record in the following game on March 21 with another two innings of work allowing 1 run on two hits leading the Lady Indians to a 7-4 victory.

Hopper has a 1.45 ERA in here career in the red and blue and has struck out 74 batters, while only allowing 55 hits and walking 40 in 86 and two thirds innings of work.
