More postseason honors roll in for North Division Champs

FULTON, MS – Delta State signee Kory Watterson continued to rack up postseason honors after being named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division Best Offensive Player on Monday.
Watterson (Nesbit) was selected to the MACJC All-State team and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 23 Team after batting .473 in 50 games with a .497 on-base percentage and .818 slugging percentage. The sophomore third baseman led the team with 78 hits, 56 RBI, 21 doubles and 12 home runs while striking out twice in 165 at-bats.
After being voted as one of the Top 5 players on the All-Region 23 team, Watterson will be eligible for NJCAA All-American status.
Joining Watterson on the MACJC All-State team was freshman pitcher Hannah Johnson (Branson, MO) and freshman shortstop Haley Moore (Booneville).
Johnson finished 17-5 on the year with a 2.00 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 129.2 innings pitched and 11 complete games.
Moore batted .391 with a .429 on-base percentage and .574 slugging percentage as the Lady Indians' lead-off batter. She led the MACJC with 36 steals, had a team-high 5 triples and 55 runs scored and was second on the team with 66 hits with 9 doubles and 4 home runs.
Sophomore designated player Ashley Langford (Columbus) was also selected to the NJCAA All-Region 23 team after batting .295 with a .385 on-base percentage and .623 slugging percentage while finishing the season second on the with 10 home runs to go along with 8 doubles and 1 triple.
The Lady Indians finished the season with a record 37 wins and advanced to the quarterfinals of the MACJC Tournament after winning their third-straight North Division title.
