FULTON, MS - Itawamba Community College and Northwest Mississippi Community College softball teams split a MACJC North Division with the Rangers taking the first game 4-1 and the Lady Indians rebounding to win 6-2 in Saturday's final game.

Northwest (10-5, 5-1 MACJC North) broke open a scoreless game on a controversial call in the fifth inning.

Rachel Elder (New Albany) threw the runner out at home to end the inning, but the infield umpire called interference on ICC (10-7, 3-1 MACJC North) after the teams had went into the dugout and ruled the runner safe at home to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.

NWCC added two runs to take a 3-0 lead before the Lady Indians could get out of the inning.

Emilee Henderson (Burnsville) went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Elder, Haley Moore (Booneville), Autumn Bonner (Fayette, AL) and Heather Dillard (New Albany) each added a single in the loss.

The Lady Indians rebounded to plate a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning of the second when Dillard scored on a groundout by Catherine Carver (Hernando) before Moore scored on a single by Kory Watterson (Nesbit).

Northwest got a run back in the top of the second on a wild pitch, but ICC answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning with Bonner reached on an error and scored on the third error of the inning by the Rangers.

Henderson reached on a two-out double and Bonner drew a seven-pitch walk before Ashley Langford (Columbus) sent a rocket of the left field fence to give ICC a 6-1 lead in the third.

The Rangers scored a pass ball in the fourth inning.

Montana Hawkins (Sulligent, AL) picked up the win giving up two runs on two hits along with two strikeouts and 2 walks in four innings of work before Cara Hopper (Caledonia) closed out the game by striking out six of the 10 batters she faced.

Dillard had a pair of singles and scored a run. Moore singled, doubled, scored a run and stole a pair of bases. Henderson doubled and scored a run. Watterson singled and drove in a run.
