BOONEVILLE, MS - The Lady Indians held off a late rally from Northeast to complete the sweep with an 8-7 win on Thursday.
Leading 8-7 and the tying run on third for Northeast, Cara Hooper (Caldeonia) got a routine pop out that bounced off the glove of third baseman Kory Watterson (Nesbit) and into the glove of shortstop Haley Moore (Booneville) to end the game in dramatic fashion for the Lady Indians.
Watterson went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and launched a three-run home run to get things going for the Lady Indians in the top of the first before pushing across the eventual game-winning run with a hard hit ball off the glove of the Northeast second baseman.
Moore had a pair of singles with Autumn Booner (Fayette, AL) and Catherine Carver (Hernando) each adding a double to the Lady Indians' 10-hit performance.
Montana Hawkins (Sulligent, AL) picked up the win after giving up two earned runs on five hits and two walks before Hopper enter in the sixth to pick up the save.
