MACJC State Softball Tournament moved to Sunday, Monday due to weather

FULTON, MS -- Itawamba Community College head softball coach Andy Kirk announced the 2013 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Softball Tournament has been postponed once again due to rainy weather on the coast.
"It's just one of those things," said Kirk. "We've battled Mother Nature all season long and we'll just use this time to buckle down to finish up finals and get in some extra time to get ready for Pearl River."
The North Division Champion Lady Indians (31-12-1, 18-6 North) were scheduled to take on the South Division's No. 4 seed Pearl River Community College (24-20, 13-11 South) Friday afternoon at 2:00, but will now face the Lady Bobcats at the same time on Sunday.
A win on Friday and the Lady Indians will face the winner between No. 8 Jones County Junior College (36-6, 19-5; No. 2 South) and Holmes Community College (19-25, 15-9 No. 3 North) in the semifinal round Monday at noon with the championship game scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
The Lady Indians earned the top seed out of the North and their second-straight MACJC North State Championship after sweeping East Mississippi Community College (24-18, 17-7) on Sophomore Day.
Sophomore pitcher Rebecca Sloan (Oneonta, AL) set the single-season strikeout record while throwing a no-hitter in ICC's 8-0 5-inning victory in Game 1 while fellow sophomore Dani Taylor (New Albany) set the all-time career saves record in the Lady Indians' 3-0 Game 2 victory.
Freshman first baseman Emilee Henderson (Burnsville) went three-for-five with a two-run home run and a two-run walk-off double in Game 1 and a two-run double in Game 2.
The 2013 North Division Championship was the programs third outright division in the past four seasons after finishing co-champions in 2011 and the sixth-straight season the Lady Indians have qualified for post-season play as one of the top two seeds from the North.
ICC has pre-qualified for National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament starting Thursday, May 9th in Clinton.
