Indians top Northwest in Region 23 third place match

ELLISVILLE, Miss. – The No. 3 seed Itawamba Community College men's tennis team ended their run in the Region 23 Tournament with a 5-1 victory over No. 4 seed Northwest in the third place match on Saturday.

ICC picked up a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Joan Mateu Ramis Pascual and Knox Waterer secured No. 1 with an 8-5 win over Joshua Tedofrd and Luca Morris, while Jack Semper and Luca Hoffman defeated Holden Cooke and Miguel Lazaga Robayna at No. 2, 8-1. Ben Orr and Santiago Diaz fell to Cole Stoddard and Gabriel Koonce at No. 3, 8-5.

In singles play, Ramis Pascual cruised past Morris at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Semper earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Cooke at No. 3, while Diaz defeated Stoddard at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2. Waterer, Hoffman, and Orr were locked in close matches at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6, but their contests were left unfinished as the Indians secured the overall team win.

Next up, the Indians will participate in the NJCAA DI National Men's Tennis Championship Tournament at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center in Florence, S.C., May 12-16.
