
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The No. 3 seed Indians fell to No. 2 seed Gulf Coast in Friday's Region 23 Tournament semifinal match, 5-2.
ICC found itself down 2-1 after doubles play when Joan Mateu Ramis Pascual and Knox Waterer fell to Mortiz Stroebel and Vicente Faria at No. 1, 8-3, while Luca Hoffman and Jack Semper dropped an 8-1 decision to Gonzalo Cotter and Ryland Buford, 8-1. Ben Orr and Santiago Diaz picked up the Indians' lone doubles win after defeating Jordan Mitchell and Connor Hartfield at No. 3, 9-8.
In singles action, Ramis Pascual captured a win at No. 1 with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Faria. Waterer and Hoffman were locked in close battles at No. 2 and No. 5, but their matches went unfinished as Gulf Coast secured the overall win. Semper fell to Stroebel at No. 3, 6-3, 6-1, while Diaz dropped his match to Buford, 6-4, 6-4. Orr was defeated by Nick Dulaney at No. 6, 6-4, 6-1.
The Indians will look to bounce back in Saturday's third place match against No. 4 seed Northwest, set for 2 p.m. at Jones College in Ellisville.
