Fulton, Miss. – Itawamba Community College sophomore Joao Pedro Mendes of Mogi Guacu, Brazil has signed to continue his tennis career at Anderson University in Anderson, S.C.
Mendes helped the Indians to a 9-8 record, a No. 20 national ranking and to advance to the semifinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Championship.
He won eight singles matches playing at the No. 1 spot as well as eight doubles matches, most of which were in the No. 1 spot.
Mendes finished the year ranked No. 22 in the overall juco singles rankings, No. 11 in the Region III singles rankings and No. 13 in the Region III double rankings with his teammate, Tasso Moreira.
Anderson is an NCAA Division II school that is a member of the South Atlantic Conference.
