Men's tennis nets a pair of win on Day 1 of NJCAA tourney

Day 1 of the NJCAA Men's National Tennis Tournament
Monday, May 17 in Plano, Texas

The #18 Indians opened Day 1 of the NJCAA Men's National Tennis Tournament playing a waiting game after heavy rains moved through the area. Tournament officials opted to share opening day hosting sites with Collin Community College and Southern Methodist University to help keep the tournament on pace as much as possible.

Russell Moorman (Pontotoc) defeated Drake Young of Paradise Valley Community College (AZ) to pick up the Indians' first win of the tournament in No. 5 singles action. Later in the day, Grayson Godbold and Jacambrian Madlock defeated Kenny Herrmann and Mike Simms of Lake County Community College (IL). The win avenged a singles loss to Herrmann for Madlock.

Moorman will continue in the No. 5 flight championship bracket. Godbold and Madlock will advance in the No. 2 doubles championship bracket. The rest of the Indain squad will fall into the consolation bracket.
