Indians eliminated from MACJC and NJCAA tournaments

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Indians were eliminated from the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) and NJCAA Region tournaments with four loses in the semifinals on Friday, bringing their season to an end. 

Roberto Valadez (New Albany) dropped a 6-0; 6-2 decision to top seeded John Murphy of Gulf Coast in the No. 3 singles semifinals. Michael Crotts (New Albany) fell 6-3; 6-1 to second seeded Max Mauney of Meridian in the No. 5 singles semifinal round.

Crotts and Ezra Blissard (Houston) were eliminated from tournament play after a pair of hard-fought 7-5 battles against second seeded duo of Murphy and Noah Rowell of Gulf Coast in the No. 2 doubles action. Valadez and Blake Gregory (Pontotoc) dropped a 6-2; 6-0 decision to Mauney and Ethan Clopton of Meridian in the semifinal round of the No. 3 doubles.

The Indians finished the tournament tied for fifth place with the championship round left to be played on Saturday.
