No. 20 Indians knock off No. 22 Jones County, 6-3

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians grabbed their second-straight win with a 6-3 victory over #22 Jones County Junior College on Thursday.

The Indians earned three points with a sweep of doubles play to start the day.

In No. 1 doubles play, David Garcia-Perez (Madrid, Spain) and Edson Marchant (Haleyville, Ala.) defeated Mitar Milosavlievic and Cody Courtney 8-4 while Ezra Blissard (Houston) and Michael Crotts (New Albany) also picked up an 8-4 win in No. 2 doubles action over Noel Monsalve and James Estrada.

Roberto Valadez (New Albany) and Blake Gregory (Pontotoc) earned a 9-8 (4) victory over Erich Fischer and Jed Slover in No. 3 doubles action.

Garcia-Perez rallied to knocked off Milosavlievic with a 10-8 decision in the third frame of the No. 1 singles match. Garcia-Perez dropped the opening set 4-6 before forcing the match into an extra set with a 6-2 win in the second set.

Valadez defeated Courtney 6-2, 6-0 in No. 3 singles play with Crotts going to an extra set to defeat Fischer. Crotts dropped a tough 7-6 decision in the opening set before forcing the match into an extra frame with a 7-5 win in the second set before earning the win with a 10-7 victory in the third set.

Blissard fell to No. 44 Monsalve 6-3, 7-5 (3) in No. 2 singles. In No. 4 singles, Marchant lost 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 to Estrada. Clayton dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Daniel Tanious in No. 6 singles play.

The Indians will look to make it three straight on Friday when they travel to Decatur to take on East Central Community College.
