Indians sweep Northeast in dominating fashion

NEW ALBANY, MS – No. 21 Itawamba Community College's men's tennis team wrapped up their regular season Thursday in dominating fashion as they defeated Northeast Mississippi Community College 9-0.

The Indians (8-5) controlled the matches from the get go winning doubles by a combined score of 24-3 highlighted by David Garcia Perez (Madrid, Spain) and Ezra Blissard (Houston) shutting out their opponent in No. 1 singles 8-0.

Perez also won No. 1 singles in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0, while Blissard won No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-2.

Chris Shands (New Albany) and Brendan Jobe (Corinth) won No .2 doubles 8-1 and Shands captured No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1 while Jobe won No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2.

In No. 3 doubles  Michael Crotts (New Albany) and Roberto Valadez (New Albany) picked up an 8-2 victory and Crotts shut out his opponent in No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0. Valadez had to battle in his first set but won the match 7-5, 6-0.

The Indians were scheduled to travel to Holmes Saturday, but the match was cancelled so the Indians season concluded with a big win over the rival Tigers.
