No. 25 Indians picks up second straight 9-0 win with victory over No. 24 Hinds

No. 25 Indians picks up second straight 9-0 win with victory over No. 24 Hinds

FULTON, MS – The No. 25 Itawamba Community College men's tennis team picked up their second 9-0 win in as many days by defeated No. 24 Hinds Community College Saturday.

The Indians (3-2) swept the doubles matches but had to fight for every win. 

The doubles of David Garcia Perez (Madrid, Spain) and Brendan Jobe (Corinth) and Chris Shands (New Albany) and Ezra Blissard (Houston) defeated their opponents 8-6. 

Roberto Valadez (New Albany) and Michael Crotts (New Albany) finished the doubles sweep with their 8-3 victory.

In singles action, Garcia Perez won the No.1s 7-5, 7-5 and Jobe took the No.2 spot 6-3, 6-3. 

Blissard defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-2 in No. 3 singles action and Shands dominated in No. 4s, winning 6-1, 6-0. Valadez capture the No. 5 singles victory 6-2, 6-4 and Crotts finished the day with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 6 slot.

The Indians will face their first road test Thursday, March 9 when they travel to Meridian.
