No. 25 Indians come up just short to No. 17 Co-Lin

No. 25 Indians come up just short to No. 17 Co-Lin

FULTON, MS – In their third battle against a ranked opponent, the No. 25 Itawamba Community College men's tennis team came up just short, falling 5-4 to No. 17 Copiah Lincoln Community College Saturday. 

The Indians (1-2) fell behind early dropping the first two doubles matches, but Michael Crotts (New Albany) and Roberto Valadez (New Albany) won in the No. 3 slot, 8-5, to avoid the sweep. 

In singles action, Ezra Blissard (Houston) won the No. 3 spot 5-7, 6-1 (10-5), while Crotts won 6-1, 6-1 in No. 6 slot and and Valadez won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5.

The Indians came up short in a tough No. 2 singles match as Brendan Jobe (Corinth) fell in the tie breaker, 3-6, 6-1 (10-6).

After three straight days of tight competition, the Indians will have a few days off before returning to action Friday, March 3 when they host Holmes Community College Saturday at 2 pm.
