No. 25 Indians fall to No. 11 Meridian 6-3

FULTON, MS – In their season opener, the No. 25 Itawamba Community College men's tennis team dropped a hard fought battle to No. 11 Meridian Community College 6-3 Thursday.

The Indians won one of the three doubles matches as the duo of Roberto Valadez (New Albany) and Michael Crotts (New Albany)picked up an 8-2 victory.

Valadez went on to pick up a 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 5 singles and Ezra Blissard (Houston) won the No. 4 singles 4-6, 6-2 (10-5).

Merdian went on to win the remaining matches but Chris Shands (New Albany)put up a strong fight in No. 3 singles being edged out 6-4, 7-5.

The Indians will host No. 22 East Central Friday at noon.
