Indians battle to road victory over Holmes, 7-2

GOODMAN, MS - After four matches went to extra sets, the Indians were able to battle to a 7-2 win at Holmes Community College Monday.

Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven) and Dexter Clay (Shannon) earned a 9-8 victory over Corey Warren and Matthew Philley after winning 7-2 in the tiebreaker of the No. 2 doubles match. 

Bozeman fought his way to the No. 3 singles victory after winning the tiebreaker 10-2 over Warren. 

In No. 5 singles action, Lane Brandon (Houston) battled back from a 4-6 opening set loss to force the match into an extra frame with a 7-6 in the second set and earning the point for the Indians with a 10-8 win.

Cameron Shumpert (Fulton) kept the rally theme alive for the Indians in No. 6 singles play. 

Shumpert dropped his opening set 5-7 but rebounded to pick up a 6-4 win in the second set before earning the point with a 10-8 win in the extra set. 

Mark Robbins (New Albany) and Bryan McDonnieal (Corinth) picked up an 8-5 win in No. 1 doubles play while McDonnieal defeated Nick Roberts 6-2, 6-0 in No. 2 singles play. Clay knocked off Philley 6-2, 6-0 in No. 4 singles action.
