Indians fall to No. 19 MS Gulf Coast

FULTON, MS – In a showdown between the defending MACJC and NJCAA Region 23 champs and runner ups on Wednesday as the Itawamba Community College men's tennis team hosted Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
The Indians (2-4) emerged victorious over in the post season last year, but the Bulldogs came to Fulton and picked up a 7-2 win.
Mark Robbins (New Albany) picked up the Indians first win in singles action by defeating Bryan Allen in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Dexter Clay (Shannon) followed Robbins victory with a come from behind win over Brett Bowen. Clay dropped the first set 3-6, but took the second 6-4 and dominated the tie breaker 10-3.
The nationally ranked Bulldogs captured the other singles matches and swept doubles to pick up the 7-2 road win.
The Indians took spring break off from competition but will travel to Holmes on Monday, March 21.
