Tribe rolls in 5-2 win over Meridian

FULTON - The Indians wrapped up the regular season Tuesday with a 5-2 win over Meridian at the ICC Soccer Complex.

Maryo Elsheikh (Memphis, Tenn.) had a masterclass performance as he scored three goals to propel the Indians to victory.

Prior to Elsheikh's three goals, Meridian got the first score of the contest with 30 minutes left in the first half to take a 1-0 advantage. But that lead was short-lived when Daven Sanders (Tupelo) found the equalizer and tied the game for the Indians with 20 minutes until the break.

ICC then got the lead when McKhi Castro (Ripley) hit it through the net to make it 2-1 in favor of the Indians. With about two minutes to play until halftime, Meridian hit their second goal to tie the game, then Elsheikh began his scoring spree not even a full minute later to give ICC the 3-2 lead going into the break.

Elsheikh went on to score two more goals in the second half as the Indians cruised to the 5-2 victory over the Eagles.

The Indians finished the regular season 9-5-3 overall and 6-2-3 in conference play. ICC will now look towards the big prize in the postseason as they prepare for East Central in the quarterfinals of the MACCC Tournament at the ICC Soccer Complex.
