Indians drop a 3-2 decision to No 9 Jones

Fulton, Miss. – In a game that had a little bit of everything, the Indians went toe-to-toe with the No. 9 ranked Jones Bobcats Friday but fell 3-2 in the season opener.

The Indians got on the board first thanks to an own goal by a Jones player after Wes Rollins (Columbus) sent the ball into the box.

Roughly ten clock seconds later, Jones was able to get the equalizer at the 32nd minute to tie the contest at 1-1.

With time winding down in the first half, Jones elected for the keeper to take a free kick from just past midfield and he was able to get it over the Indian defense for the goal and give the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage heading into the half.

In the 80th minute, the Indians were awarded a penalty kick after a foul call in the box, and Cameron West (Glasgow, Scotland) beat the keeper to tie the game at 2-2.

However, Jones was able to answer the Indians' goal with a penalty kick of their own in the 82nd minute.

The Indians were unable to find the equalizer, dropping the 3-2 decision.

Next up, the Indians will host Southwest Wednesday at 3 p.m. for their second of three non-division games before North Division play begins on April 12.
