Indians shutout Northwest in North Division finale

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians had to wait six extra days but were able to close North Division play with a 4-0 victory over Northwest.

The original match was scheduled for last Friday but heavy rain and lightning forced the match to be rescheduled to Thursday.

The Indians got on the board when Lando Nichols (Chelsea, Ala.) scored off an assist from Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo) in the 20th minute. The Indians' defense would hold strong to take the one-goal advantage into the break.

O'Daniel helped the Indians push the lead out to 2-0 early in the second half when he found Diego Trujillo (Olive Branch) for the score. Irvin Rodriguez (Pelham, Ala.) extend the lead to 3-0 when he sent home an assist from Tujillo. Peyton Avery (Amory) picked up his first collegiate goal off an assist from Brian Huckaby (Saltillo) with three minutes left in the match.

Alex Box (Amory) and Corbin Martin (Amory) combined for the Indians' sixth shutout of the season. Box recorded a pair of saves and Martin added another in the win.

ICC will wrap up the regular season against Meridian on Friday.
