Indians clinch playoff berth with shutout of Holmes

Fulton, Miss. – The Indians clinched a playoff berth with their 4-0 win over Holmes Tuesday.

In the second straight shutout win, the Indians (8-2, 5-0 MACJC North) found themselves tied after a scoreless first half, but the scoring picked up quickly in the second half.

At the 51st minute, Carter Chandler (Tupelo) scored off an assist from Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo), and five minutes later Lando Nichols (Chelsea, Ala.) scored off a rebound.

Jalin Boyd (Tupelo) scored his second goal this season off an assist from Brian Huckaby (Saltillo) at the 78th minute and David Marquez (Madrid, Spain) scored the final goal of the game at the 82nd minute off and assist from O'Daniel.

Alex Box (Amory) grabbed three saves in the shutout.

Next up for the Indians, is a huge North Division battle Friday in Raymond as they go head-to-head with Hinds at 7 p.m. An Indian victory would clinch an outright North Division title for a second year in a row and would earn ICC the hosting rights for the MACJC Tournament.
