Indians fall in double overtime battle

Fulton, Miss. – The Indians scored in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime with Pearl River, but fell 3-2 at the 117th minute in double overtime.

It was a battle of two of the top teams in the MACJC with both squads supporting an undefeated division record and leading those divisions.

Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo) gave the Indians (6-2, 4-0 MACJC North) an early 1-0 lead at the 19th minute off an assist from Cameron West (Glasgow, Scotland), but Pearl River netted the equalizer a minute later.

At the 31st minute, Pearl River (6-0-1, 4-0 MACJC South) took the lead and held the 2-1 advantage at halftime.

With the game coming to a close late in the second half, a loose ball in the box found the foot of Irvin Rodriguez (Pelham, Ala.) kicked it home to tie the game with 26.3 seconds left in regulation.

The Indians will hit the road Saturday to face Andrew College in their final non-division match before hosting Holmes Oct. 1 to start the second half of division play. Saturday's kickoff is set for Noon from Cuthbert, Ga. And can be seen live on Andrew's website (andrewfightingtigers.com).
