Indians shutout Holmes in division opener

Ridgeland, Miss. – The Indians opened North Division play in impressive fashion defeating Holmes 3-0 Friday.

In the first half, the Indians were unable to bury their scoring chances and Alex Box (Amory) made an impressive save at the 32nd minute leaping to the top corner of the net to keep the game scoreless.

The Indians (3-0, 1-0 MACJC North) were unlucky with shots going off the post and Holmes' keeper snagging the shots, but Lando Nichols (Chelsea, Ala.) broke the scoreless game at the 67th minute off an assist from David Marquez (Madrid, Spain).

With the game still tight, the Indians picked up an insurance goal as Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo) connected with Cade Knight (Saltillo), who beat the keeper and extended the lead to 2-0 at the 80th minute.

Four minutes later, Marquez found the back of the net on an assist from Carter Chandler (Tupelo) for the final score of the game.

Box grabbed four saves in the contest and picked up his second consecutive shutout.
