Indians open season with 2-1 win over Jones

Ellisville, Miss. – ICC's men's soccer program started the 2019 season with a big road win by defeating the defending MACJC champion Jones Bobcats 2-1.

The Indians (1-0) fell behind 1-0 in the fifth minute, but quickly found the equalizer at the 8th minutes as freshman midfielder Lando Nichols (Chelsea, Ala.) beat the keeper.

With the game tied and halftime approaching, freshman midfielder Irvin Rodriguez (Pelham, Ala.) scored on a penalty kick that proved to the game winner at the 33rd minute.

The second half was scoreless, securing the indians 2-1 season opening victory. Sophomore keeper Alex Box (Amory) pick up the win in net grabbing four saves.

It will be short rest for the Indians as they return to action Sunday to face Southwest Mississippi in Summit at 3 p.m.
