Indians hang on to defeat Northwest, 3-2

SENATOBIA, Miss. – The Indians held off a late rally from Northwest to pick up a 3-2 win over the Rangers to move to 7-0 inside division play for the first time in the history of the program.

How it Happened

Cameron Koehn (Amory) set up Brendan Koehn (Amory) for the first goal of the match in the fourth minute.

Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo) gave the Indians a 2-0 lead off an assist from Brendan Koehn in the 17th minute.

Northwest rallied with a goal with less than five minutes left in the first half to make it a 2-1 contest at the break.

O'Daniel scored his 11th goal of the season on an unassisted goal in the 64th minute to put the Indians up 3-1.

The Rangers made it a one-goal match in the 85th minute but the Indians were able to retake control of the match to seal the victory.

With his two goals, O'Daniel moved into a tie with Brendan Koehn for most goals on the season. He's third on the team with four assists.

"It wasn't pretty, but at least it was a win," said Coach Mike Sullivan. "We are going to have to get refocused because you can't play the way we did today and expect to win once the playoffs start next week."
