Strong second half gives Indians 5-1 win over East Central

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians (9-3, 5-0 MACJC North) scored three goals in five minutes during the second half to pull away and pick up the 5-1 win over East Central.

How It Happened

Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo) put the Indians up early scoring his 8th goal of the season at the 6th minute, but held the 1-0 lead as they couldn't seem to find a rhythm the rest of the first half.

After halftime, the Indians found their stride scoring three goals in five minutes started by an Austin Rowell (Amory) goal at the 57th minute.

Luan Balestieri (Rio Grande, Brazil) scored three minutes later and Cameron Koehn (Amory) followed two minutes later with a goal off an assist from Rowell.

East Central scored at the 66th minute but the Indians still held a 4-1 advantage.

Weston Mitchell (Corinth) scored his first goal of the year at the 78th minute to give the Indians the 5-1 win, and clinch a playoff berth.

Renasant Bank Reaction

"Our first half was ugly," said Coach Mike Sullivan. "They (East Central) plays a good system that frustrates us a lot and they are a good squad. Our second half was much better and we are happy to get the win and clinch a playoff spot."
