Indians win crazy game over Andrew in double overtime

FULTON, Miss. -  The Indians (5-2-0, 3-0-0) fought their way to their fifth straight win with a 4-3 double overtime victory over Andrew College (1-5).

In what players and coaches called a "crazy" game, there were 8 total cards(3 reds, 4 yellows), 7 shots deflecting off the upright or cross bar and 3 penalty kicks in 107 minutes of action.

How it Happened

Late in the first half, Andrew broke the stalemate with a goal at the 41st minute.

Two minutes after halftime, Brendan Koehn (Amory) scored the equalizer on the game's first penalty kick and Luan Balestieri(Rio Grande, Brazil) put the Indians up 2-1 at the 69th minute.

Andrew would find the equalizer less than two minutes later on a penalty kick.

Balestieri was awarded an penalty kick with 14:05 remaining in regulation and he beat the keeper for his second goal of the match and to give the Indians a 3-2 lead.

At the 80th minute, Andrew would tie the game again, forcing overtime.

Koehn scored what would appear to be the game winner during the first overtime but a late offside call waived off the would be golden goal.

As time was winding down in the second overtime, Clayton O'Daniel(Tupelo) raced down the field and juked the keeper to the ground and put in the golden goal at the 107th minute to give the Indians the win.

Renasant Reaction

"Great team win, probably one of the best team wins in my career," said Coach Mike Sullivan. "It literally took every single healthy player we had to win this game."

"This was one of the craziest games I've been a part of in a long time with the number of cards, goals and penalty kicks," added Sullivan. "But the guys fought hard in the crazy game and hopefully this will carry over into Tuesday's big game against Hinds."

On Hinds

"Andrew (College) did a lot of things today that we will see from Hinds Tuesday," said Sullivan. "They like to play with three forwards and get the balls to those guys, so we will have to put pressure on them, but more than that we've got to finish our chances."
