Indians knocks off Northwest, 2-0

FULTON, Miss. - The Indians (3-2-0, 2-0-0) took care of business to pick up a 2-0 victory over Northwest (1-5-0, 0-2-0) to stay undefeated in North Division play on Friday.

How it Happened

Luan Balestieri (Rio Grande, Brazil) scored off an assist from Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo) to give the Indians a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.

Austin Rowell (Amory) gave the Indians a 2-0 advantage when he scored off an assist from Brendan Koehn (Amory) in the 71st minute.

Preston Mattox (Tupelo)

Mattox went the distance in net for the Indians and recorded the clean sheet after making six saves.

"This was another one of those games that was a test of wills," said Coach Mike Sullivan. "It felt like it was 100 degrees out there, but the guys responded well to come up with the chances we needed to get the shutout win. It's always nice to do that at home." 

Up Next: The Indians will travel to Ridgeland to take Holmes on Tuesday at Freedom Ridge Park. The First American National Bank opening kick is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
