Indians secure playoff spot in win over Northwest, 6-0

SENATOBIA, Miss. – For the ICC men's soccer team the mission was simple– win and you're in the playoffs. The Indians left no doubt in securing their spot in the playoffs behind an impressive second half in their 6-0 win over Northwest Mississippi Community College on Friday.

The Indians (7-5-1, 4-2-1 MACJC North) got on the board in the first five minutes of the match when Brian Heredia (Pelham, AL) scored on an assist from Colby Bogle (Tupelo). Neither team could find the back of the net for the remained of the first half.

ICC came out quickly in the second half to take a 2-0 lead on a goal by Alexis Resendiz (Horn Lake) off an assist from Brendan Koehn (Amory) in the 51st minute. Luis Garcia (Olive Branch) pushed the Indians' lead out to 3-0 on an assist from Cesar Perez (New Albany) and just over a minute later Resendiz sent home his second goal of the match off an assist from Jake Kirkpatrick (Amory).

The goals were Resendiz's 10th and 11th goals of the season.

Koehn and Luan Balestieri (Rio Grande, Brazil) added a pair of goals off assists from Garcia and Bryan Vogel (New Hope) to give the Indians the 6-0 victory.

Keeper Brandon White (Tupelo) recorded his third complete match shutout of the season by making two saves on the evening.

The Indians are currently tied for second with Hinds Community College (5-5-1, 4-2-1 MACJC North) and a game behind East Central Community College (9-5-1, 5-2-1 MACJC North). The Indians can secure second place and a home match in the opening round of the playoffs with a win or tie against Holmes on Tuesday.
