Resendiz, Koehn lead Indians past MUW

COLUMBUS, MS – Alexis Resendiz (Horn Lake) and Brendan Koehn (Amory) combined for four second half goals to lead the Indians to a 5-2 victory over the Mississippi University for Women Sunday.

The Owls jumped out to an early lead on a goal art the 19th minute, but Luan Balestieri (Rio Grande, Brazil) netted the equalizer at the 23rd minute. 

After the break, Resendiz scored back-to-back goals at the 49th and 51st minutes to give the Indians the lead. 

Koehn added a pair of goals at the 62nd and 67th minutes as the Indians pulled away with five unanswered goals scored.

The Owls would add a late goal at the 88th minute but the Indians picked up the 5-2 win.

Resendiz and Balesieri both picked up assists in the contests.

Brandon White (Tupelo) and Bailey Jones (Horn Lake) split time in net for the Tribe and combined for three saves.

The Indians improve to 6-3-1 overall and they head into the second half of MACJC North Division play on Tuesday when they travel to Hinds. Currently the Indians are in first place in the north.
