Indians open season with seventh-place finish

WEST POINT - The ICC golf program opened its 2023 season with a seventh-place finish in the East Mississippi Invitational for the first MACCC event of the year.

The Indians shot 87 over as a team and had Everett Price (Amory) as their top performer with a 21st-place finish. He shot 161 total and was two strokes away from a top-20 placement.

Cooper Williamson (Starkville) finished 33rd after shooting 77 in the second round, which moved him up 16 spots.

After shooting 98 in the first round, Trice Rakestraw (Saltillo) moved up seven spots to finish in 51st after he shot 81 in the second round.

The Indians will be back in action October 2-3 for another two-day tournament when they travel to the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia for the second MACCC event of the season.
