Meridian, Miss. – Itawamba Community College golf finished the first round of MACCC Event 6 at Northwood Country Club in Meridian in seventh place after shooting 27 over par (311). However, the Indians only sit 10 strokes behind Copiah-Lincoln Community College, who finished the day in third.
Corbin Andrada (Olive Branch) shot at 73 (+2) in the opening round and is tied for 12th.
Jake Ware (Oxford) is tied for 27th after shooting a 78 (+7) and Rhett Gullett (Olive Branch) is only one stroke behind Ware with a 79 (+8) and is tied for 30th.
Hogan Payne (Olive Branch) shot an 81 (+10) in the first round and is tied for 49th, and Trace Sonnier (Vancleave) finished the round tied for 55th after shooting an 85 (+14).
The final round of the event is scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m. Tuesday as the Indians try to make up those 10 strokes and earn a top three finish.
