Indians earn Top 5 finish in ICC Fall Invitational

AMORY, Miss. – The golf team finished in fourth place with a 613 (+37) at ICC Fall Invitational held at Riverbirch Golf Club in Amory.

The finish was the best of the season for the Indians.

Landry Miller (Florence, Ala.) and Shawn Cox (Little Rock, Ark.) finished in a three-way tie for fifth place with a two-day total of 147 (+3). Miller slid back two spots after carding a 77 (+5) on Tuesday. Cox maintained his spot at fifth with a 76 (+4).

Ross Reeder (Tupelo) and Trace Sonnier (Vancleave) earned a spot in a four-way tie for 16th with a 154 (+10) for the tournament. Reeder shot a 79 (+7) and Sonnier turned in an 81 (+9) on Tuesday.

Rhett Gullet (Olive Branch) finished tied for 29 with two other players at 160 (+16). He shot an 83 (+11) to slide from 20th on the final day of play.

Braxton Kesler (Saltillo) shot a 165 (+21) after carding an 84 (+12) to finished tied for 34th. Hayden McCostlin (Bruce) carded a 166 (+22) after a final round of 86 (+14) to finish 36th. Hughes Powell (Tupelo) shot an 87 (+15) on Tuesday to finish 41st with a 172 (+28). Jack Herring (Saltillo) finished 44th with a 176 (+32) after shooting 91 (+19).

Meridian won the tournament with a 586 (+10) while Tate Dickerson (Northeast) took home medalist honors with a 140 (-4) for the tournament.

Miller and Cox both earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for their Top 5 finish.
